Last week I talked about how beliefs about yourself and your abilities can affect your success. This week, I will teach you how to use words to change your destiny.

Growing up, we’ve all heard the saying, “sticks and stones may break your bones, but words can never hurt you.” We also know how wrong this can be. Words can hurt us. Words can even destroy us.

But the right words can also elevate us to heights we can barely imagine.

This week we will see that choosing the right words when you talk about yourself, others and even situations can make a tremendous difference in your life.

Several weeks ago, I posted about the law of focus, our attitude. We move in the direction in which we lean. Closely related to this law is the law of attraction; we seek pleasure and avoid pain. Both of these laws work on EMOTION. Emotion starts with words.

We think in three dimensions. All thoughts consist of words. Words turn into pictures in our mind. These pictures become feelings – either pleasure or pain. Emotions are the most powerful of these dimensions.

We look in the direction of the strongest picture. Our actions follow our eyes.

Emotions; not our intellect, are our driving force.

If we want to move toward something (positive), then we must associate it with pleasure. That starts with the words we choose. We must choose words with strong emotion in order to paint a strong picture in our minds. This picture will draw us to our ultimate actions, our success.

We are in control of our thoughts. That control starts with our words.

  1. RoniLynn says:

SO true. As a child, I would always tell my mom…”I can’t….” do this or that. Always. Maybe I was afraid of failing or feeling stupid. Or maybe I was too lazy to try. But my mom would always fuss at me about saying “I can’t”. Instead she always said you CAN do anything you want to do. Never say “I can’t”. Even now, as an adult, those words have stuck with me. And you are right…WE are in control of our thoughts.
