Seeing What You Really Want

My roots are in a small rust-belt town called Johnstown, PA. I didn’t grow up there, but my mother did. So did my grandfather.

If you have heard of Johnstown, it is most likely either because you lived in the area OR you are familiar with its claim to fame –FLOODS. The latest flood hit in 1977 and almost ruined the already struggling community.

Several years ago, a building was donated to the Kernville neighborhood of Johnstown. The neighbors were called together and asked what they wanted to do with the building.

SILENCE.

Then the facilitator asked a different question – WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH THIS BUILDING IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT?

We were there for hours discussing ideas and possibilities for the building.

Within a few weeks, the community received a grant (free money) and converted the building into a community center, complete with a state-of-the-art computer lab. Soon groups and organizations were coming out of the woodwork from all over the country, revitalizing empty lots, planting community gardens, erecting playgrounds.

The neighborhood was transformed with just a dream.

In order to reach your goals, you must remove ALL mental obstacles to that goal.

Goals begin with a dream, a vision.

Many times we turn back that vision because we cannot see past the present. We are so conditioned to look at how things ARE that we cannot see the possibilities of how they CAN BE. We allow obstacles to block our view of the future.

Invisible potential

Just as you cannot see the plant when you look at a seed, you cannot look at today’s circumstances and see the future.

It is only upon planting that the seed can reach its invisible potential. It can grow and produce hundreds more like it.

It is only by planting the seed of your dreams that you can reach your invisible potential. Do not allow your present situation to hold you back. See the growth possibilities.

As you learn how to set goals in your life, begin by asking the question – what do I want for my life if money were no object?

The answer will reveal what you REALLY want.
