Today is Mardi Gras, a day to celebrate and have fun.

Mardi Gras is the last chance many Christians have to “let their hair down” before the beginning of Lent, a 40 day period of fasting and sacrifice ending on Easter Sunday.

You don’t have to pick a special day to have fun. Everyday can be Mardi Gras when you live a life of bliss.

Why are you sitting around reading my blog?

Go out, enjoy your day. Celebrate, get your bliss on. Dance, sing, eat, enjoy. This is what life is for.

I’ll be here tomorrow.

Happy Mardi Gras! I always wondered why we’re so dead-set on living in the misery of Lent when we could instead choose the joy of Mardi Gras.

We never had “official” Lent in my church (where you gave something up for the season.) The premise behind Lent is that Jesus sacrificed and for 40 days we sacrifice in observance of His suffering and sacrifice.

It wasn’t until I married that Lent became part of our family’s religious observances (my husband is Catholic.)

I always give up something that isn’t good for me anyway. After Lent I usually don’t go back to my bad habits again.

I never give up joy and happiness, however.

      Happy Mardi Gras.
